i would like to know what it means to the rest of you getting in touch with the spirit world. is there a thin line between religion and spirituality. personally i dont know yet, as i belive that i am a spirit, having a soul and living in a body- does it matter to follow a certain religion to experince the spirit?
does religion catergorise spirituality? what are your thoughts. Edited by Lerato - 10-Aug-2006 at 13:40 |

hola lerato, interesting topic & that which has been asked so many times. nb : although i'm part & parcel of the kollective, in no way does what i'm about to say represent the views & position of kush...
so... to me religion & spirituality is an attempted by us [humans & all the living things] to overstan & relate to the world we living in. so by looking around you, interacting with different people & basicaly living your life can be an experience of which religion & spirituality is about. how can i be religious or spiritual? well, by living my life to the fullest can be a great experience. i just think some of these isms & schism are an attempt by the rulers of the world to tame us in one way or the other, to make us believe in 'some vision'.
we should be spending enuff time talking about 'this life' than the 'after life' because no one knows what happen afterwards...[that's what religion is to people]. i think my life & how i live it is more important than trying to relate my life experience with a perfect image of being. look within yourself...

thanks, so would you agree with me if i say that relogion is a practice and spirituality is a way of life. so then i dont have to belong to a particular religion to experience the spirit. i like how u say that we need to focus on "this life" than what we dont know and at the same time we need to be in touch with the inner man.

! Great advise...
Spirit is what we all possess..good or bad! Religion, cults, societal groups...that's all just for spiritual ENRICHMENT! Africans embraced Christian religion as a way out of their struggle...it was a pillar of hope for our people during a time when there was no one else to turn to...but SOMEONE who THEY told us 'SAVES LIVES'! We cling to it today purely for habitual reasons! What we need to start doing as a people, is to BELIEVE IN OUR OWN LEADERS. Let's PRAISE those who came before us and ,made significant changes to our continent.
PEACE!

i think spirit looms in the realms of self awareness. Being aware of ones emotions, thinking and interaction in the world makes one reflect on ones actions , this to me is a spiritual process cause we then have to tap into our intrapsychic self.
my question is , if self awareness is a holistic process as i described about , why do we attached the spirituality to just our emotional self sometimes?
( i know its really dubious if i have a theory on self awareness but have no answer to the question posed, guess my spirit self is seeking your wisdom to ! )

Sorry for the delayed response Dash...
I think it's because self awareness...being aware of your actions, your interaction with others, your thoughts....all of that provokes emotion....Our emotional selves carry all that we are...it fully determines our ACTION/REACTION processes!

The outward form of things passes away, but the essence remain forever. If you look too closely at the form, you will miss the essence. If you are wise, you will always pick out the pearl from the shell.
